Family Boating Adventure
from: Maxx Adventure TravelOf all the activities you can choose for your family to enjoy together, you can do no better than boating. Family boating allows you to connect with each other, enjoy nature while getting some fun exercise, sunshine and fresh air. Here are a few suggestions on how to enjoy your next family boating adventure.
You can start by having everyone in the family get together to plan your trip. Find yourself a map of great boating destinations, and have everyone agree on the best palce for your boating adventure. You can go near or far depending on your budget since there are lots of places where family boating is the main activity and caters specifically to family boaters.
When choosing a destination, you're going to pick somewhere that has facilities to accommodate your boat. Some bodies of water don't allow boats over a specific size while others don't have tie-up docks where you can leave your boat overnight. This may be inconvenient since you'll have to put the boat in and take the boat out every day you want to go on the water.
Family boating is a great adventure that will bring the entire family together. However, sometimes too much togetherness can be a bad thing, so wherever you choose to go, make there there's a good variety of activities available. If Dad prefers spending the day fishing but Mom hates the idea, check the area for a spa where she can spend the day pampering herself.
It's a good idea to involve your children during the planning process. Once you've decided on a location you all like, let the kids do the hard work -- the research. Have them plan a route to get there, find the docking facilities, boat ramps, campsites, etc. It can be like a scavenger hunt and they'll be just as enthusiastic and excited about your family boating trip as you are!
When you're on board the boat, it's wise to give everyone some duties that they must carry out. You'll need a captain, a first mate, a cabin girl/boy, a galley cook, and so on. Make sure everyone knows and understands their duties and let them have fun with it. You may want to maintain a guide book with all the information you'll need so your 'crew' can refer to it when they need to.
It's also imperative that everyone in the family learns everything about boating safety, perhaps you could all take a boating safety class. This is very important because safe boating is essential for having a good time.
A family boating adventure is sure to be a wonderful experience for everyone. Whether you own your own boat or not, you can bring the family along for a great vaction you'll all cherish forever!
