Party Boating
from: Maxx Adventure TravelThe idea of "Party boating" likely conjure up images of wild on board antics with plenty of alcohol available and beautiful ladies strutting around in skimpy bikinis. The reality is, there's much more to party boating than getting drunk.
However, since alchohol is usually a part of most parties, anyone captaining a water craft should keep their consumption to a minimum. Boating while intoxicated can lead to some serious issue, and there is a high risk of injury or worse if "party boating" should ever get out of hand. A boat can be as dangerous as a car -- perhaps more so -- because the additional factor of dealing with choppy waters rather than a stable road. So boat party responsibly and don't drink too much.
A boat party is a great way to connect with friends. The best party boating is done on a pontoon boat or a yacht. Pontoon boats are more affordable for the average person, but if you're lucky enough to have a yacht -- party away!
The best elements to a great party boating are lots of food and drink. Of course, you're going to need enough room for everyone which is why a big pontoon boat that can accommodate lots of people and food works so well. You'll also need lots of coolers available to hold your beverages, but keep things simple since you're going to be on the water. Bringing a lot of mixers for drinks isn't practical, so keep it to aluminum cans for beer and soda and wine coolers for those non-beer drinkers.
Of course, what would a party be without music and party boating is no different. If your boat doesn't have its own stereo system, you can bring a portable stereo, but have plenty of batteries on hand. Make sure you have a variety of music to satisfy the preferences of all your fellow partiers!
One essential is to be sure you have life jackets for everyone on board, and certainly prevent anyone from doing anything stupid. A cardinal rule of party boating is no drunken skiing or tubing and definitely no drunken swimming. Always keep an eye on your guests and keep them safe.
Owning a boat means you have a wonderful place party, but there are ways you can go party boating and have a blast without causing any problems for anyone else. Always be mindful of your fellow boaters and guests and stay safe.
