Finding The Right Boat For You
from: Maxx Adventure TravelWhen choosing a boat it's important that you understand that no single boat can do everything. If you want a boat that helps to inspire confidence, then don't expect it to shine in light air. Boats that provide excitement and fun for weekend sailing aren't going to be the ideal boat for passage across the ocean.
Your boat isn't likely going to have both quick acceleration and load carrying capacity. A boat can be for racing or fishing, and sailing around later -- but you can only do one or the other with specific types of boats.
Of course, you'll choose the right boat based on the type of boating you plan to do. Examine your reasons for wanting to own a boat, fully laying out what and how you plan on using it.
Some look for beauty and for sail boats, this is an important consideration since you'll be spending most of your time floating and sailing around and many people will be observing your sail boat. Since so many people will be looking at your vessel, it only stands to reason you'll want it to look amazing.
On the other hand, if you'll be racing rather than cruising, then you're going to be most concerned about speed. There are lots of cruising sailors who just can't be happy unless their boat is capable of moving very fast. The perfect boat for speed demons are the ones that will cut through the water and create lots of waves.
Of course fishermen are focused on fishing boats. Trackers and boats designed for fishing are going to be ideal. Since fishing is one of the most popular boat activities, you're going to have lots of different types of boats to choose from.
When choosing a boat, consider the activities you want most to participate in, do your research, weigh your options, set your budget and then start shopping and before you know it you'll have the boat of your dream ready to launch for your first voyage.
