Essential Accessories for Backpacking
from: Maxx Adventure TravelWe're all probably aware how much ladies like to accessorize their look using jewelry, fashionable ponchos, handbags etc. that enhance their face and body. Men also accessorize their shirts, wallets, brief cases, etc. Often they're following a fashion trend, or they may just have their own sense of fashion. Regardless of what they're wearing, matching accessories add to the glitter, glamour and grace of their wardrobe.
The same applies when backpacking. Of course, when you're out trekking or hiking in the wilderness, the rule of thumb is really less is more, however, ther are some backpacking accessories that are actually considered essential items.
Backpacking accessories aren't big, bright or colorful items used for just enhancing the appearance, but useful and practical items that make your adventure easier and more convenient. Of course, it's not a good idea to overdo having too many backpacking accessories -- but having a few simple add-ons to the usual backpacking gear is a common practise.
Essential backpacking accessories usually include a compass, a head cap or bandana, sunglasses and straps, a good solid backpack etc. Additional accessories would be straps, laces, string, etc., that will be useful when hiking, cooking, etc. Since utility is the key to any accessory, especially when backpacking, it's helpful if each item is multi-functional.
When planning a backpacking trip and preparing your equipment and gear, adding useful accessories is a good idea. The main purpose for any accesory should be its usefulness and whether it will save you time and bring more convenience to your trip. The purpose of backpacking accessories isn't to be fashionable, that's for sure.
