Alaska Backpacking Adventure Options

from: Maxx Adventure Travel

Backpacking in Alaska will pave the way for an amazing backpacking experience for you and your companions. Since backpacking is the combination of camping and hiking, Alaska Backpacking Trails provide backpackers the opportunity to see all of Alaska's wonders, up close and personal.

Many of Alaska backpacking trail options are available for professional and amateur backpackers, providing lots of backpacking challenges, as well as backpacking learning experiences. Included in this roster of Alaska backpacking trails are Lake Clark National Park and Preserve and Glacier Bay National Park.

Lake Clark National Park and Preserve

The park was made to preserve the scenic natural beauties of this area, as well as the traditional lifestyles of the local population. Lake Clark National Park and Preserve plays host to some of the most magnificent sights in the world, providing a true wilderness experience for Alaska backpacking aimed travelers.

The Preserve hosts two active volcanoes, Mount Iliamna and Redoubt. Mount Redoubt's recent eruption happened between December of 1989 until April of 1990. Mount Iliamna hasn't erupted during written history, but is known to have steam rising out of its summit. Both volcanoes are closely monitored.

Temperatures in the preserve go as low as 55 degrees, with the weather being quite unpredictable. As an Alaska Backpacking Trail option, chilly temperates, wind and rain are what the adventurers should expect.

Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve

With its diverse combination of land and seascapes, Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve stands as a magnificent Alaska backpacking venue. With sights such as the magnificent snow-capped mountains, tidewater glaciers, deep fjords, ocean coastlines and various freshwater lakes and rivers, the wilderness scenes hosted by Glacier Bay are simply majestic testaments to the powers of nature. Significant as a wilderness sanctuary, Glacier Bay has been labeled as a venue of hopeful things, sought out by those searching for solace with nature's wondrous backdrop. It's considered one of the largest Biosphere Reserves in the world, very much protected which is the reason for its status.

Winter temperatures in Glacier Bay rarely drop to single digit readings, as the average night temperatures go as low as 25 - 40 degrees F, with summer temperatures averaging from 50 to 60 degrees F. As with most of southeast Alaska, April, May and June are the dry months of a year, while September and October are the wettest. Rain is basically normal.

Alaska backpacking trails provide backpackers with a different backpacking experience, true to the foundations defining backpacking.
