Of course, this potential savings will only apply to regular campers since invensting in campground membership would be a waste of money if you only go camping occassionally.
Now, you might be wondering if a campground membership is even necessary since there are lots of state, county and federal parks. This is certainly the case, however these facilities are tax-funded -- and if there is e er a short fall in funding it could mean fewer services will be available at your favorite campsites. Along with the initial expense, you'll have to pay for your own electrical service, sewer service and well water. Next you'll have to add in taxes, maintenance and insurance costs, and before you know it you've invested several thousand additional dollars in your lot. When you consider this cost, a campground membership starts to appear to be a very attractive as well as much less expensive alternative.
Generally, private campground memberships are much more attractive than public camping for a number of reasons. To begin with, private campgrounds usually safer, since there is always private security on duty and campers at these campgrounds tend to watch out for one another. Public camping, on the other hand, are often more dangerous, since these sites too often have less than adequate security and the campers seem to be less willing to act as neighborhood watchdogs.
