Considering a Campground Membership?

from: Maxx Adventure Travel

Whether you're a veteran camper or someone new to the world of camping, you'll find it worthwhile taking a look at the cost effectiveness of a campground membership. Of course, this potential savings will only apply to regular campers since invensting in campground membership would be a waste of money if you only go camping occassionally.

Now, you might be wondering if a campground membership is even necessary since there are lots of state, county and federal parks. This is certainly the case, however these facilities are tax-funded -- and if there is e er a short fall in funding it could mean fewer services will be available at your favorite campsites. Another consideration is that must make reservations to stay at government campgrounds -- and often a reservation must be made much as a year in advance. Also, you may find that conditions at government camping sites are often chaotic, since the campers they attract often have beer bashes, loud parties plus other distractions.

Due to government budget cuts, a lot of government campgrounds have a shortage of rangers and security officers. This means there's a larger possiblitiy that you may have to deal with crimes within the grounds such as robberies, assaults, or even rapes. Once way to escape these possible problems is to consider a private campground membership.

One option is to buy a camp site or recreational lot, but this is quite expensive and could cost your family up to $5,000. But the expense doesn't stop there. Along with the initial expense, you'll have to pay for your own electrical service, sewer service and well water. Next you'll have to add in taxes, maintenance and insurance costs, and before you know it you've invested several thousand additional dollars in your lot. When you consider this cost, a campground membership starts to appear to be a very attractive as well as much less expensive alternative.

Generally, private campground memberships are much more attractive than public camping for a number of reasons. To begin with, private campgrounds usually safer, since there is always private security on duty and campers at these campgrounds tend to watch out for one another. Public camping, on the other hand, are often more dangerous, since these sites too often have less than adequate security and the campers seem to be less willing to act as neighborhood watchdogs.

Another saving a private campground membership provides is the cost of staying at a private resort could be as low as eight dollars a night, in contrast to as much as $50 a night at a public site. In addition, along with a lower nightly cost, the overall quality of a private resort is usually superior to public campgrounds.

Finally, a membership at a private campground is going to provide you with numberous amenities including access to a club house, rec rooms, and restaurants. So consider your options carefully and make sure you do what's best for you and your family.
