Camping Equipment Tents
from: Maxx Adventure TravelIf you're planning to go camping, you should understand that the most important item of camping equipment is your tent. Many businesses are now established on the internet that can offer you, the camper, a wide range of choices. You're going to need all kinds of camping equipment, however, your tent, (unless you have an RV) is an essential part of everyone's camping trip.
A growing number of people are taking up camping as a welcomed getaway from busy city living. Many also enjoy hiking and will hike from site to site across the countryside during their vacation. Hikers and backpackers often need less camping equipment. A tent should be as lightweight as possible for backpackers as they will be carrying them wherever they go.
Depending on the time of year you've going camping, and also the terrain and weather conditions of the area, you'll probably have different requirements for a tent. When you draw up your list of camping equipment, a tent may be a bit of an unknown quantity when you're starting out.
First, you need to think about the size of tent you're going to need. This doesn't just depend on the number of people -- you need to remember that although tents are sold that way, some people are a lot bigger than others and therefore need more room. You should also think about where you'll be storing your gear. If you're traveling by car, this isn't a big problem, since it gives you some extra storage space.
No matter what you think you may want in camping equipment, a tent will be the single biggest expense. Buy the best you can afford and it will last you a long time if you look after it. Find out whether the tent you're buying can withstand heavy weather if you think you might run into some bad weather conditions.
Four season tents are generally thought to be the best at withstanding heavy winds or heavy snow fall -- anything lighter might collapse under the strain.
Finally, before you purchase your camping equipment tent, thoroughly examine that it zips up and opens properly. Make sure the zippers run smoothly and check out just exactly what kind of material your tent is made of. Try to find one that doesn't need too much in the way of guy ropes and tent pegs as these can be a real nuisance to erect.
