If you're hiking just a few hours to reach your destination where you'll remain for the rest of your trip, then you'll be able to pack more items in your pack. Some lightweight camping gear available is a range of tents, from one man tents to four man tents. If you're hiking with a group, it's best for each man to carry his own one man tent, rather than one man carry the four man tent, as it's heavier and a bigger burden.
It's ideal for each person to carry a three pound tent and a two pound sleeping bag. There are sleeping bags available that are made from down or synthetic material making them lightweight and easy to manage. Compact stoves or burners that fold up and make for easy storage is also a good choice as well as titanium pots, pans or cups as they are much lighter than aluminium.
When deciding on what lightweight camping gear to pack, look at each item and decide how important each item is and whether or not it has more than one use. This helps eliminate useless items from your pack. One useful tip is to consider using water purification tablets or a device that will purify and filter your water, as this will avoid having to carry several containers of water.

If you'll be hiking in cold conditions, don't use the thinner sleeping bags because ther lighter, instead go for the heavier sleeping bags and eliminate items from your pack to make up for the extra weight. Also, by using hiking poles you'll help ease and distribute the weight of your pack.
