Important Skills to Master When Exploring a Cave
from: Maxx Adventure TravelCave exploring is a great adventure and a very fun and exciting activity, which is why so many people are getting hooked. However, for obvious reasons, exploring a cave isn't a walk in the park. It's a very difficult activity that can even be dangerous. Thus it's important to master some skills before you can go on exploring a cave.
Here are some skills people wanting to explore caves should master:
1. Directional Skills: people exploring caves should have superb directional skills. If you get into a cave, you must know how to get out as well. Otherwise you'll get stuck inside the cave through the many crevices you can go into. Caves are like mazes, although more dangerous and good directional skills are very important.
2. Escape Skills: the ground in caves is definitely not covered with smooth marble, there are many crevices to get stuck in. To be a successful cave explorer you should master the skill of escaping from being stuck in things. When exploring caves, you're bound to get stuck at some point, so you'd better be prepared to break free from anything that could hold you up.
3. Rope knotting skills: ropes are essential tools in cave exploration. There will always be a point where you'll need to go down a cave and to secure yourself and your caving buddies, you might need to use ropes. There are many ways to tie ropes and you have to learn all the knots used for cave exploration and you would need to know which one to use best in specific situations.
4. First aid skills: exploring a cave is a very dangerous activity, you'll never know what's inside a cave until you explore it. Even if you take all the necessary precautions needed to keep yourself safe, there's always the possibility of getting hurt or injured inside the cave.
It's therefore very important to know how to deal with accidents -- wounds, cuts, scrapes, bruises, fractures -- you or your buddies might encounter inside the cave. First aid skills may be the defining line between life and death and thus it's important to know at least the basics in first aid when exploring a cave.
Caves are foreign terrain to most people and you can't be certain as to what might happen inside. Knowing these skills proven to be useful in exploring caves can indeed be helpful and ensure not only enjoyment but more importantly, safety in cave exploration.
