Get Some Training Before You Climb That Mountain

Checking the calendar you realize that -- oh no -- your first climb is only a few weeks away. You realize have to start training now. The best method to train yourself in any activity is to stimulate yourself into that activity. Therefore, in mountain climbing, the basic skill needed is hiking. Therefore, before you head out to that climb, grab a backpack and start a regime that includes hiking exercises with low intensity cardiovascular exercise.

You should give yourself two to six weeks for this regime, tt the end of which you'll have the basic mountain climbing skill you'll need to do so successfully.

1. You should start your equipment purchases with a back pack and boots. For their first climb, people generally rent boots because they're quite expensive and it would be a waste of money if they only use it that one time.

2. Choose a small mountain or a hill near where you live.

3. Plan your exercise program. Make sure the intensity and length of the entire routine increases gradually.

A good example would be in the first week to trek for thirty minutes thrice a week. In the second week, you go for forty five minutes carrying 15 to 30 lbs. of weights three to four times a week. In the third week, go for an hour with 30 to 45 lbs. of weight for three to four times a week. In the fourth week, ease up on the weight and go for one or two sessions.

Before you know it, you’re ready for your climb.

However, remember to adjust your program when required. Not every routine is appropriate for everybody. Weights should be added and reduced depending on your body type.

Here are some important mountain climbing tips:

1. Your pack should have weights in the form of the water bottles because they won't tear up your back pack. You can pour out the water when you reach the peak so you don't put tension on your knees as you climb down.

2. Use poles for trekking becaise they lessen the strain on your knees when you ascend and descend.

3. Don't rush yourself but keep your pace slow and steady. Start and stop depending on your productivity and you can listen to music to set a rhythm.

4. Have realistic goals. If you push yourself too hard, you'll only hurt yourself. Before your take on your climb do some stretching and keep yourself hydrated. You should also rest two days before the expedition.
