Rock Climbing for Beginners
from: Maxx Adventure TravelThe sport of rock climbing has become very popular in the United States and throughout the world. People who love to be in nature, hiking and trekking, also enjoy rock climb. One thing you need to understand about climbing a rock or cliff face is that it takes time and patience. Safety measures while practising this potentially dangerous pasttime should always be taken very seriously since falling and getting injured is something that can happen to anyone, especially a beginner who is properly prepared. You need to learn the importance of using strong rope, proper shoes as well as other equipment, such as rappel and belays that are all essential for rock climbing.
When starting out, it's a good idea to practice on a rock climbing wall you can find for this purpose in parks and gyms. These practise walls are usually only ten to twelve feet tall, but have jagged crevices that simulate real rock climbing conditions. Here you can practice knot tying and suspending your bodys with the rope and this will also help you to get over any fear of heights your might discover you didn't know you had. This practice can be a great time for friends and family and it's also great exercise since it works your leg muscles, arm muscles and stomach muscles.
In addition, it's also a great cardio workout, which explains why it's become very popular at gyms and other workout places everywhere. You'll find instructors are on hand to help and give advice. These walls have become fun places for people off all ages, even if the goal isn't to climb, since the wall is safe and is a realistic simulation of a real climb.
So, now that you're ready, where are the best places to start your climbing adventure? With a bit of research, you'll discover there are many places to climb, including popular locations in Colorado and Arizona. As well, many states have parks where rock climbing is allowed.
Keep in mind all of the rules you've learned before climbing. Never climb alone. Never climb too high and don’t climb if there are any warning signs posted. These signs are there for a reason. It may be that someone has injured themselves at those spots or a rock slide has caused the rock face to become unstable. Remember, safely should always be the first priority when rock climbing.
So climb safely and have fun enjoying the great outdoors.
