Using Rock Climbing Holds

from: Maxx Adventure Travel

Rock climbing walls are becoming very popular in gyms for exercise as well as a place where enthusiasts can practice their rock climbing techniques. Rock climbing holds are used on these rock climbing walls and in order to remain challenging to those who climb them regularly, new holds are added and moved around to make climbing the wall a different experience each time. The rock climbing holds are plastic and inexpensive and should last for years. They can be placed anywhere on a rock climbing wall.

Rock climbing holds are simulate crevices and jagged edges used to climb rock faces. In order to climb a rock, you must hold onto these little pieces of rock and the holes found on the cliff. By carefully planting your feet into these spaces, you're able to climb up the rock safely. This procedure must be done carefully in order to properly sense where to place one's foot. A rock wall is, of course, much less dangerous. If you fall, you'll land on mats placed at the base of the wall. Since climbing holds can't break apar, it makes climbing much easier.

Rock climbing holds come many different shapes and sizes. Smaller pieces, called jibs, are used to simulate tiny shelves on a rock's surface which may be used to place one’s hand. Larger holds are for your feet and may be curved or straight, narrow or wide. They're placed in a random pattern to help simulate a real climb and are nailed to the wall, but come off easily so they can be moved around.

Practising on a rock climbing wall is definitely great exercise if you want to work all muscle groups and help you simulate the mental challenge you'll face during a real climb. Thus the walls are changed regularly keep people happy and challenged every time they use the wall. Holds can be purchased in groups or separately and are colored so they can be recognized by size and for reordering purposes.
