Gloves protect your hands and provide a firm grip on the rope and they also keep dirt and rock out of your fingernails and prevent your hands from getting scraped. Gloves and helmets are usually affordably priced and since they can be used over and over again, it's wise to buy the best quality you can afford.
You'll also want to get some chalk to use to prevent your hands from getting sweaty and for marking places on the rock where belays will be placed on the climb down. Chalk is very inexpensive and has several addional uses including marking places the group has been if they get lost so a rescue crew has an easier time finding them. Bags for chalk are water resistant and can be used to store extra supplies such as gloves and rope.
Tool holders look like carpenter's belts and are very handy rock climbing gear that can be used to hammer in belays and to chip away at rock for proper rope placement. You should also look into additional tools such as ice picks and screwdrivers to that help clear space for rope and equipment on rock covered with ice or moss.
