A Kayak is a canoe used for leisure, recreation, and sports as well as racing, and cruising. There are currently about sixty companies that manufacturer kayaks, so there's plenty of different models to choose from once you've decided to take up kayaking.

Kayaking is for people who love the outdoors and adventure, but it takes specific skills and balance to maneuver a kayak. When getting into kayaking you can choose between smaller kayaks, which are easier to maneuver or longer kayaks, which are perfect for water adventures.

In addition to length, another consideration is the shape of the kayak. A kayak with a wide and flat bottom is relatively easy to maneuver because the platform is stable. Round bottom kayaks are usually  less stable, but easier and faster for paddling, especially if you're sitting in the middle of the kayak.
