Exploring underwater isn't just a matter of putting on a wetsuit and then jumping into the water. Since there are some dangers, here are some useful tips that are strictly enforced, especially if you're on vacation at a private resort.
1. Anyone rents scuba diving equipment should be licensed to do so, which means presenting a plastic card certifying this before being able to complete the transaction.
Scuba diving isn't just for experienced divers. The majority of resorts provide classes for beginners and can certify a beginner after a few days of training. Most of the lessons are done in a pool so the progress of the student can be monitored in a safe and controlled environment.
2. Swimming underwater and to view the coral reef is a whole lot different than going for a drive to the mall, mainly because you're likely not familiar with the territory, and so it's important to always stay close to the group or the dive master.
3. Before every dive, a diver should always check their equipment. Ppeople do prepare the equipment, but it's advisable for you to double check to ensure the oxygen gauge is full, the zippers and the locks on the wetsuit and the fins are working and the goggles aren't foggy.
4. Another very important safety tip is to learn the basic signs used when underwater. This is usually done using sign language, which is the only way to communicate since it's difficult to talk with a mouthpiece on.
5. The most important safety tip for scuba diving, especially beginners as well as experienced divers, is to always have a partner when scuba diving. Research has shown that going in pairs increases the chances of being rescued in the event of an emergency.
Scuba diving is a lot of fun and learning the basics will make it even more enjoyable, so much so that you'll probably want to experience the adventure in many different diving spots to see something different, which is a lot better than what Sea World has to offer.
