Steamboat, Colorado Steamboat Springs is located in northwestern Colorado, and is noted for being one of the best skiing locations in the Rocky Mountains, which is perhaps why it's called Ski Town USA, the place where some of the best know winter Olympians grew up. This area has over 3,000 acres of ski areas and everyone including beginners can take a few lessons at the resort from Olympians and World Ski champions. Crested Butte, Colorado Crested Butte is in the Elk Mounted Range, and has a ski village just a few miles from a Victorian mining town.
